Hull-based EYG Commercial (part of the EYG group) fabricated and installed 1,400
Spectus grey foiled windows to new student accommodation in Sheffield in November
last year. The £1.8 million project with Ocon Construction Ltd also involved installing
curtain walling, and balcony and entrance doors to private apartments in the same
block. The colour complements the modern design of the 1,100 bedroom complex.

EYG Commercial Division Director, Mike Hanson, comments: "The original planning
consent called for powder aluminium windows, but following a value engineering
exercise we proposed grey PVC-U. The overall effect and the performance are
indistinguishable from aluminium, but there is a substantial cost saving.
Grey is popular in the commercial market and unusual colours are being specified
more often. Spectus' foiling service gives us almost unlimited colours to choose
from so we can meet the requirements of almost any project.
